12th Scale Rules

1.       All cars are to have three club identification numbers clearly visible (preferably black numbers on a white background).

2.       If your bodyshell is not securely connected to the chassis, the car will be removed from the track until rectified.

3.       At the start of a meeting, your bodyshell should be free of sharp edges with no missing bodywork.

4.       Bumpers can be fitted to your car, but they must be made of a non-rigid substance.

5.       Bodywork cannot be cut out above the lower moulded trim lines, for the purpose of ground clearance.

6.       Only your aerial mountings, body posts, and transponder mounts can protrude through your bodyshell, all other running gear has to be encased within your bodyshell.

7.       No part of the running gear can protrude outside of the body.

8.       Axles have to be either of a solid or tubular design.

9.       Rear independent suspension is not allowed.

10.   At the beginning of a meeting, your wheel cutouts cannot exceed 10mm wider than the radius of your tyres.

11.   If your bodyshell has moulded wheel wells, these have to be cut out.

12.   All bodyshells have to be of a Le Mans , G.T.P. design, with a fixed wing of a maximum width of 172mm and chord of 51mm.

13.   Minimum weight of 879 grams for 6-Cell, 800 grams for 4-Cell.

14.   Maximum overall length 451mm.

15.   No tyre additives are allowed.

16.   Use of tyre warmers is permitted.

17.   The entire width of your wheels has to be covered by your tyres.

18.   Roll over aerial/masts are permitted, but the ends must not be sharp.

19.   When the track has been satisfactorily laid, racing will commence with three rounds of qualifying heats, followed by finals as entries permit.

20.   A start/ finish line has to be marked on the track

21.   Practising of the track before the first heat is not allowed, you may however run the track in the opposite direction of the intended race. After the first heats are completed you may then practise in the same direction as the race.

22.   Heats will start by use of a staggered start.

23.   Finals will begin in grid formation.

24.   A distance of one metre will be used between each qualifying car in the final.

25.   Races will be run with a maximum of six cars in the A-final, a maximum of six cars in the B-Final and a minimum of three cars per final.

26.   Races will last eight minutes.

27.   Cars that have crossed track lanes have to be marshalled back to where they exited the track lane. Unless they can get back to this point by themselves.

28.   All drivers have to marshal heats and finals in a rotation system, subject to running positions.

29.   Competitors may choose to run 6-Cell packs using standard 27 turn motors, or 4-Cell packs using modified motors. For standard running only rebuildable motors can be ballraced but they must retain a standard armature, and it must display its armature tag. Non-rebuildable standard motors must remain sealed. 30.   Any complaints about the race, or any competitor, have to be made to the timekeeper or to any committee members present, immediately after the race has finished. A decision will then be made on what action should be taken.

31.   Smoking is not permitted at this venue.

32.   A first aid kit will be available at the computer station.

 

To achieve the earliest possible start, drivers are requested to help set up the track from 7:00 p.m. onwards.
