BRCA SPECIFICATION CLASS

Construction Regulations (Nitro)

1.1           Exhaust pipes and silencers must remain intact at all times. Any truck that has an exhaust creating excessive noise must stop at the nearest marshalling point and have its engine shut off by stopping the flywheel.

1.2           The exhaust pipe outlet (stinger) must be directed below horizontal to the ground. Rear facing/exiting exhausts are not permitted.

1.3           A throttle return device must be fitted directly to the throttle arm/spindle to ensure that the throttle will return to idle if the linkage or servo should fail.

1.4           Every truck that competes in a sanctioned event must be fitted with an effective braking system operated externally by the driver from the handset.

1.5           Maximum fuel tank capacity must not exceed 75cc. The fuel pipe between the tank and carburettor must not exceed 8” in length, including filter/s, and be of small-bore tubing. Tank capacity will be randomly tested.

1.6           Engines must be below 0.15 c.i. capacity or of standard Traxxas or Schumacher type with a glow plug and side or rear exhaust port. Variable compression engines and engines with variable timing are not permitted.

1.7           Only the carburettor of the type supplied with the engine may be used.

1.8           No liquid cooled engines are permitted.

1.9           No forced air or ram type air induction systems for engines are permitted.

1.10       Air filters must be of commercially available type designed for use with the engine type to which they are fitted.

1.11       All engines must be commercially available. No independently created or custom built engines are allowed.

Construction Regulations (Electric/Nitro)

1.12       No truck shall be constructed so as to be dangerous or likely to cause damage to other competitors' trucks.

1.13       Only two wheel drive trucks are allowed, with drive to the two rear wheels only.

1.14       The overall width of any bumper must not exceed the overall width of the front of the truck, including its wheels. The bumper must be constructed of a resilient material such as plastic or rubber, minimum thickness 2.5mm and edges rounded.

1.15       Dimensions must conform to the following:

Wheelbase – 228mm (9”) minimum, 292mm (11.5”) maximum

Maximum length 457mm (18”)

Maximum width 330mm (13”)

Minimum width 300mm (11.75”)

Minimum weight 1700 g (60 oz), complete and ready to race excluding lap counting equipment

Tyre size 91mm (3.6”) minimum diameter, 66mm (2.6”) maximum width. Front and rear wheels must be the same width.

1.16       Only commercially available truck wheels and truck tyres are permitted as originally intended by the manufacturer. No form of metal or plastic spike can be attached to the tyre.

1.17       Foam/sponge tyre inserts are permitted.

1.18       Cutting and shutting of tyres is not allowed, but trimming of the existing tread is permitted.

1.19       Only water may be used for cleaning tyres. No other substance such as tyre additive, WD40 (or similar) may be applied to the tyre to enhance performance or prevent the adhesion of mud.

1.20       Body shells fitted to nitro trucks may have up to half of the front windscreen cut out. Further cutting of the body shell is permitted to facilitate pull start handle operation (only where a pull start engine is fitted), for refuelling purposes, or to provide screwdriver access to adjust carburettor mixture screw/s. If desired, it is also permitted to remove side windows although this does considerably weaken the body shell.
